How To Cut A Pineapple
So, when I pick a pineapple out, usually it’s green, and then I let it sit on my counter for two to three days and then I cut it. It sort of gets from green to yellow.
When it comes to cutting, I choose a knife that fits comfortably in my hand. So, I usually go with my chef’s knife but if you have a knife that you feel comfortable with, that is big enough to cut the pineapple, go ahead and use that knife.
No 01: Cutting Off Top And End
First of all, lay your pineapple down and turn the way horizontally and just cut off the top. After cutting, you could also twist it out but I like to set it and side up like a fruit platter or something. It has a nice sturdy base. Now, you’re going to turn it around and then cut off the other end as well.
No 02: Cutting Off The Outer Skin
Now, what I like to do is I like to stand pineapple up. If you have any likes you can do that. Then, you are going to cut down the pineapple and going to cut off all of the outer skin. So, you will get the nice yellow flesh. You want to go as close as you can to the pineapple because if you have some kind of spots there, you can come back and get those off later.
Just keep turning your pineapple until you get all that skin off because you don’t want to eat that skin. So, if you have a lot of skin on your board, you can move that to the side for your garbage or your compost bowl. Then, just keep cutting down remember to get as close as the skin as you can because you don’t want to waste your time later again.
You could even use a little spoon to remove some kind of spots on your pineapple. I like to go in with my knife because sometimes there’s like a whole row of them. I use pineapple for smoothies most of the time. I take this and then I freeze it.
No 03: Remove Hard Core
Hopefully, that you would have cut your pineapple’s outer skin. Now, you are going to remove the upper hardcore, you do not want to eat that it’s very hard. So, you are going to go right down and then again right down, then you may have two halves and then go around that core again. After that, you can give it to your children to snack on but you need to remove it because it’s hard to eat. You can chew on it, don’t actually eat it.
No 04: Cut In Pieces
Now, you are to cut those pieces. Then, you can cut them into little bite-sized pieces for freshness. If it’s a smoothie or something that doesn’t sound good to you then you can go back and take those pieces that bother you. It would be like a smoothie. You can freeze this to enjoy frozen smoothies ice cream or refrigerate to enjoy fresh.
